These lesson plans are based on the readings and warm ups found in the Warm Up section. When writing these lesson plans, Thomas and his classmates were tasked with incorporating the warm up content into fifteen minute lesson plans desgined for begining band
Lesson Plan #1:
Criteria for this lesson:
Write a lesson plan for your first (full band) beginning band rehearsal of your selected piece of music. Assume that the sheet music has been introduced in group lessons first, but you still will be starting from "square one" as an ensemble.
Criteria for this Lesson:
Your lesson should make use of the following strategies:
Big to small to big (start and end with big ideas and full group; the middle should involve more individual work and refinement)
Gamify at least one part of your lesson
At some point in the lesson, play at least one instrument yourself (piano, woodwind, and/or brass)
Lesson should include the Otaki reading
Using the lesson plan template Download lesson plan template, write a 15-minute warmup plan based on concepts found in the Otaki Download Otaki, the McBeth Download McBeth, and especially the Paynter
